Longsnout Seahorse (Hippocampus reidi) – Blue Heron Bridge, Riviera Beach, Fl

Seahorses are one of the most sought-after subjects at the Blue Heron Bridge.  Firstly, finding  a Seahorse to photograph requires a keen (or experienced) eye.  Secondly, imaging them often requires trying to maneuver between sponges or debris to line up a good shot.  This night, we were finishing up our dive as I looked into a yellow/orange sponge and saw something that looked a little different than the rest of the background – upon closer inspection, I saw that I had stumbled upon a pretty little Longsnout Seahorse.  With eyes that move independently, it looked all around my face and my gear as I approached slowly to take my photos.  We stared at each other for as long as I could until we were forced to leave with dying tanks of air.
