Blushing Star Coral (Stephanocoenia mechelinii) – Grecian Rocks, John Pennekamp St Park, FL Keys
As the sunset’s gold and purple pastels faded, we slipped into the inky darkness to find different, more psychedelic shades of color. Vibrant fluorescing proteins lit up green across the sea floor – so much so I had difficulty picking one subject to shoot, I was overwhelmed. This Star Coral held my attention for long enough, and I still like staring at this picture the same way I did when I first saw the coral.
