Sea Spider (Anoplodactylus sp) – Blue Heron Bridge, Riviera Beach, Fl

This Sea Spider is the smallest animal I’ve ever photographed.  Although its arms reach about 1.5cm across its body, its slender nature makes it nearly impossible to see while roaming slowly across the bottom.  I had been looking for nudibranchs when I spotted something moving differently than the surrounding algae which was swaying predictably in the current.  I leaned my mask down, nearly to the bottom, and saw that I had found a tiny Sea Spider with emerald splotches painted across its arms.  I kept my eye on it, as not to lose sight of this great find, while I reached into my BC and screwed on my macro lens and scored one single frame that showed the animal differentiated from the surroundings.
